Before you leave the studio, your tattoo will be covered with a protective Fixomull Stretch dressing. This helps protect the tattoo during the early stages of healing while allowing you to get on with your day.
The First Few Days
Leave the dressing in place for up to 5 days, provided it remains well sealed.
It is completely normal for blood, plasma and excess ink to collect beneath the dressing. This is a natural part of the healing process.
You may shower as normal, however avoid soaking the tattoo in baths, pools, spas or the ocean.
If the Dressing Lifts or Leaks
If the dressing begins to lift significantly, leaks fluid, or the tattoo becomes exposed, remove the dressing.
Wash the tattoo gently with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow the tattoo to air dry completely.
From this point, continue with the standard aftercare instructions below.
Removing the Dressing
After approximately 5 days, remove the dressing slowly under warm running water.
Wash the tattoo gently using warm water and a fragrance-free soap.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow it to air dry for several minutes.
Moisturising
Apply a small amount of fragrance-free moisturiser 2–3 times daily, or whenever the tattoo feels dry.
Only use enough to lightly hydrate the skin. Over-moisturising can slow the healing process.
While Your Tattoo Heals
- Wash the tattoo gently once or twice daily.
- Do not scratch, pick or peel any flaking skin.
- Avoid swimming, spas and saunas until fully healed.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure.
- Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing where possible.
Normal Healing
During healing you may notice:
- Mild itching
- Light peeling or flaking
- Dry skin
- Slight redness during the first few days
These are all normal parts of the healing process.
